Tow Truck Driver ---Jan. 26,2009

You stay up for 16 hours
He's been up for 48
You get to take a warm shower to wake you up
The rain in the middle of the interstate help keeps him up
You complain of a headache and call in sick
He's chilled to the bone, hasn’t eaten all day, has the flu, then runs to get a vehicle from a wreck scene
You drink your coffee, tea, etc. on the way to the mall
He's lifting a vehicle off a 5 year old child
You make sure your cell phone is in your pocket'
He makes sure the roadways are clear
You talk trash about your buddies not being with you to party
He's picking up the car of a drunk driver who killed an innocent person
You walk down the beach staring at the girls
He’s walking down  the highway helping officers find missing body parts
You complain of how hot it is
He is in the dead heat on the asphalt pulling drive lines, dragging cables and chains.
You go out to lunch and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong
He hasn’t eaten since he left home that morning and doesn’t know when he may get the chance to eat again
Your maid makes your bed and washes your clothes
He's been in the same stinky, wet, grungy clothes for the past 24 hours…. no time for a shower
You go to the mall to get your hair redone
He’s assisting getting the car off of a college girl who was speeding and not paying attention
You are angry because your class ran 5 minutes over
His shift ended 2 hours ago and he is stuck on shift for another 24 hours
You call your wife/girlfriend to set up a date or make plans for the night
He is calling his girlfriend/wife to let them know that he made it back and is ok and then takes off on another call
You yell and scream at the truck that just passed you
He’s going to work the accident your parents just got killed in
You roll your eyes as a baby cries
He is fighting tears when he sees the lifeless child on the street with that was involved in a wreck
You criticize the towing company for not getting there quick enough
He is blowing his horn and had his beacons on while the person in front of him is refusing to move out of the way while they are busy on their cell phone or putting on make-up
You hear the joke about falling tow truck drivers and say they should have known better
He feels the ground below as he is pushing you out of the line of fire when a driver is coming down the road and hits your car as he is loading it
You see bright lights as you drive by
He sees the broken bodies lying around
You are asked to go to the store by your parents and don’t
He looks into buying a bullet proof vest because he’s been shot at for helping a shooting victim that was shot going down the road in a drive by and his car was crashed
You stay at home watching TV
He takes his spare time to clean his truck for his customers, and restock on oil dry and make sure his equipment is safe for him to tow your vehicle
You crawl into your soft bed , with down pillows and get comfortable
He tries to sleep in the front seat of his truck, but keeps getting woke up to his radio going off for the next call
You sit there and judge him, saying that it’s a waste of money to have him around
Garbage truck workers make more money than he does, but he isn’t in it for the money ; it’s for the people who don’t appreciate what he does
